‘Having worked with many organizations suffering from a strategy with an expired shelf life;
that did no longer cater for the rapid changes and destructive forces in the marketplace,
I decided to focus on helping them become successful again.’

Ian van der Pool has more than 29 years of leadership experience in multinational operations
and corporate services. He retired from Royal Netherlands Air Force active duty as a major
after serving for 25 years leading and managing programs that directed the advancement
of facility management and business support within the Dutch armed forces, including
two tours of duty in South Lebanon and Afghanistan.

Since then he has worked extensively in both the private and public sectors.
Recent experience includes corporate real estate, procurement, contract management,
demand management, supply chain management, “Imagineering,” corporate social responsibility
and business modeling.

As lecturer on Imagineering and international facility management at the Breda NHTV University
of Applied Sciences, Academy for Facility Management and industry leader, van der Pool has worked
to advance the FM profession in Holland, throughout Europe and around the world. He recently
completed a productive term as chair of Facility Management Netherlands (FMN) and currently serves
as a director in the Board of Directors of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).

Van der Pool earned a master’s degree in facility and real estate management from Groningen University and is certified as an experience professional by the European Centre for the Experience Economy.
