The Trumpf Case, Strategic Team Process
General information
Trumpf is a German multinational with more than 10,000 employees. We worked for a Business Unit with 650 people producing a laser technology to accelerate chip production. ASML was their largest customer.
The results
Relevant stronger strategic position towards the market and especially ASML.
With an international team, we went through a strategic process to strengthen the strategic position based on the excellent technology, clearly create more value for the market, and especially for ASML.
Trumpf is the ‘’most difficult’’ supplier for ASML. It is widely known that all suppliers to ASML are under heavy pressure, both operationally and regarding margins. About 2 years after the Strategic Team process, it was reported from multiple sources that Trumpf is the ‘’most difficult’’ supplier for ASML.
Additionally, support and engagement from the headquarters in Germany were significantly increased because someone from headquarters joined in the Strategic Team Process.
Alignment between the different departments was solidified, increased belief and trust through more perspective within the team for a strong strategic position towards the market and specifically towards ASML was created. This also results in a better EBIT.
